Production SuperintendentPOSITION SUMMARYThe Production Superintendent is responsible for the operations of the Santa Maria, California facility during the second shift. The Production Superintendent coordinates departmental activities with other managers and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operation while meeting budget, scheduling, employee safety, food safety and quality standards. This position supervises two supervisors and several floor leaders and is ultimately responsible for all production workers, maintenance and warehouse employees on the second shift. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinates the activities of the production, warehouse and quality control personnel.Monitors production lines and work areas. Visually inspects work areas and production equipment. Ensures equipment works efficiently and safely.Directs, assigns work to, corrects, disciplines, trains and evaluates personnel.Authorizes temporary changes in job duties and corresponding wage rates as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the facility.Directs daily production schedule as assigned by the Production Manager.Monitors and evaluates production performance to ensure performance standards, product quality, product safety and employee safety. Adjusts product, labor and equipment resources as needed to ensure production objectives are achieved.Identifies problems and develops appropriate solutions.Control cost and operates within budget parameters.Communicates frequently with plant management regarding production, product quality, product safety and employee safety.Maintains positive employee relations within the departments.Trains and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Also leads by example.Follows all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Employee Handbook, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HACCP and Pictsweet Safety Procedures.Enforces company rules, such as attendance, food safety, production quality, employee safety, GMPs to ensure quality and efficiency. Disciplines subordinates when non-compliance occurs.Creates a positive safety culture and work environment.Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE: Must have a practical understanding of food production principles, quality control, HACCP, GMP, and personnel management. This is normally gained in at least two years of food production experience.EDUCATION: A college degree is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must posses an understanding of management/leadership fundamentals. Must have basic mathematical reasoning ability and a basic understanding of statistics.SPECIAL SKILLS: Must posses excellent communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Must be able to process large volumes of information, make decisions under pressure and provide leadership in difficult situations.WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is expected to be able to work in all plant environments including occasional short term exposure to refrigerated atmospheres.#cb
