Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Dental Assisting 318 - Basic Dental Assisting Skills Instructors Part-Time FacultyAllan Hancock College is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates for part-time Dental Assisting Instructors for future openings at the Santa Maria Campus. The desired start date is for the fall semester, August 2021. Essential Functions Instructors appointed to the part-time temporary pool may be used to cover part-time, temporary and/or substitute openings in the department. Assignments can vary in duration and are not guaranteed. Assignments for Dental Assisting pool instructors include: Providing effective classroom or laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter Preparing and grading all class assignments and examinations Advising, assisting and evaluating students, evaluating learning outcomes and maintaining regular office hours Participating in program activities including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision making as well as the development of new teaching-learning methods and materials Contributing to development of program policies and procedures Maintaining accurate and timely student records as required Maintaining currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics Communicating with excellent written and oral skills in EnglishSALARY: Lecture Rate:$48.00 to $73.50 per hour depending upon education and experience Lab Rate:$41.80 to $64.00 per hour depending upon education and experience Activity and Non-Classroom Rate:$30.89 to $48.21 per hour depending upon education and experienceSCREENING PROCESS:A committee will screen all applications.Meeting minimum qualifications does not assure a candidate an interview.Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed.Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities.A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense.All interviewed candidates may be asked to complete job related exercises.The district reserves the right to cancel any appointment or to reassign the area of service, extend time limits, reinitiate, or withdraw the recruitment/selection process at any time.APPLICATION PROCEDURE:To be considered as a candidate for this position, please submit the following materials online:A current a complete resume of education and professional experienceCover letterTranscripts (Copies are acceptable for the application process).Official transcripts are required if hired. Required Qualifications: Requirements & Desirables REQUIREMENTS - Clinical Instruction Only Any Bachelor's degreeandtwo years of professional experience in the fieldORany Associate's degreeandsix years of professional experience in the field;andCurrent and valid licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA; issued by the Dental Board of CA);andCurrent certification in all of the following: CPR/BLS; Dental X-Ray; Coronal Polish; Pit and Fissure Sealants;andDemonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community.DESIRABLE:Two (2) hours of clinical teaching methodologies Continuing Education Units (CEUs) approved by the Dental Board of California. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (Desirable Attributes & Skills) Competencies related to: curriculum & course development; teaching & learning theory; information resources & evaluating student outcomes; and, assisting student to develop critical thinking skills Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing with a diverse campus community Currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility and subject matter Strong organizational skills Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues and members of the campus community Commitment to the teaching profession, its goals and ideals, and enthusiasm for the mission of the College of Marin Understanding of contemporary equity and diversity concepts and issues in a community college setting Familiarity with, willingness and ability to use multiple teaching methods including computer-based learning Ability and enthusiasm to use teaching methods that engage students and encourage them to be motivated self-learners Knowledge, training and experience with online pedagogy and technology Evidence of excellent written and oral skills in English Faculty Hourly Wage$ 48.00 - 73.50Our company provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
