TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Bakersfield, California, 93301! Pay Information $2,954 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: CERNER experience required No first-time travelers Basic EKG interpretation test during orientation Description: Unit involves ICU and ICU-CV Recovery. Basic EKG interpretation test will be assigned during orientation. Critical care RNs will have more than just the basic interpretation test. The unit has 24 beds with the capacity to go up to 32 beds. Ratios are 1 to 1 or 1 to 2. An Intensivist is available on the unit from 7 AM to 5 PM and on-call after hours. Certifications in IABP, CRRT, and ICP are not required, but having any of these is a plus. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Additional equipment includes pagers linked to the call light system and internal phones. Unit orientation consists of two shifts on the unit and orientation for floating purposes. Charge nurses are present but rarely take patients. There is also a "Free Resource Nurse" that may take patients if staffing needs require this. Charge nurses respond to all rapid responses. Shifts are from 7 AM - 7:30 PM or 7 PM - 7:30 AM. Staff receive a 30-minute break and three 15-minute breaks per shift. Weekends require every other weekend or the equivalent of four weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule. Scrub color is navy blue, with specific guidelines for scrub jackets and undershirts. Patients typically include those with respiratory failure, sepsis, AMI, ARDS, GI bleed, CABG, TAVR, Impella, vascular surgeries, and neuro surgeries. Experience with neuro cases is a plus. Nurses must participate in multidisciplinary rounds. Medications administered include all cardiac and vasoactive drips and conscious sedation. Nurses must be willing to float to any MedSurg/Tele units. Travelers float first. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done through Cerner. A BSN is not required. This is an acute care setting.
