Summary: Working with minimal supervision from the Academic Dean
and technical supervision from the Program Director, the Instructor
instructs students through clinical practice to develop the
knowledge and skill to prepare students for entry level employment
as licensed Vocational Nurses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches assigned skills lab courses in accordance with established
approved curriculum and course outlines
Assesses and analyzes student mastery of skills and program
Contributes to outcome discussions at the program levels.
Fulfills all duties enumerated within the Statement of Faculty
Provides direct supervision and student feedback at clinical
Maintains public relations with current clinical facilities
Performs clinical facility evaluations
Attends educational and campus meetings as determined by Program
Refers students to appropriate campus resources.
Performs various functions and duties directly related to the
Maintains necessary attendance, submits daily to program
Participates in professional development as determined by Program
Maintains current knowledge in the field, vocation or
Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: A clinical instructor supervises
student conduct in the lab and at clinical sites, on the campus,
and on field trips and school related functions.

Education and/or Experience
A minimum of a Associate's degree from an accredited college; and 5
years related experience ; or a minimum of one year full-time
teaching experience in a state accredited or approved registered
nursing or vocational/practical nursing or psychiatric technician
school within the last 5 years; or teaching credential to meet
California college or state university teaching requirements; or
completion of teaching course offered by an accredited school. Must
have 2 years clinical experience as a registered nurse or
vocational nurse within the last 5 years. Must be willing to travel
throughout services areas.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area
of expertise; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints
from students, employees and members of the business community;
ability to effectively present information to students, employees,
and the business community.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,
interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic
algebra and geometry.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have
knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and all
software programs related to courses to be taught.
