COMPANY OVERVIEW:Rantec Power Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of RPS Holdings Inc. a management owned private company. Rantec Power Systems, Inc. was originally established in 1956 and is a well-established electronics design and manufacturing company. The management team acquired the company from ESCO in 2003 and owns two additional companies.Today, Rantec Power Systems is a designer and manufacturer of military and aerospace electronic products for Tier-1 markets. An engineered solution company, Rantec has expertise in all aspects of design, manufacturing and test. Product focus areas include:* MILITARY CUSTOM LOW VOLTAGE - Power supplies designed to specification for tactical applications/harsh environments.* MILITARY STANDARD PRODUCT - VME and VPX integrated solutions.* COMMERCIAL AEROSPACE - High voltage power supplies for cockpit CRT displays applications.* LEGACY - Spares, assemblies and components for legacy platforms where Rantec is the OEM.Rantec customers are Tier 1 aerospace and defense contractors who value commitment and performance. Rantec is a preferred supplier to many, and regularly recognized for its exceptional technical performance, on-time- delivery and quality.SCOPE OF POSITION:This Executive Vice President (EVP) position will report to the President and CEO of RPS and will have significant P&L accountability for a $60M division with approx. 180 employees. This position will have leadership over Operations and Engineering, which includes a staff of two (2) Senior Management Members, five (5) Directors and 10+ Manager level leaders, along with; Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Technical Directors, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, Production Supervisions, etc. Rantec has doubled in size over the last six years and has plans for double digit growth trajectory over the next five (5) years. This positions mandate will be to align operations and engineering to ensure successful program management and improved operational performance.The EVP is one of the most important members of Rantec, second in command. The EVP oversees operations and engineering, collaborating with the other executive leaders (Business Development, Finance & Human Resources). This person will work very closely with the RPS Holdings executive team particularly, the President and Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer to ensure Rantec is meeting its maximum potential. The EVP is tasked with managing multiple departments, staff and projects within the company. This requires using their extensive knowledge of the industry and finances and to ensure employee output while leading the company's strategic goals, mission, values, beliefs, and culture.PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:To achieve the mission for this position, the EVP must produce the following critical actions and results:* Align Operations & Engineering: Successfully lead to align operations and engineering, collaborating together to ensure successful management of aspects of program execution (cost, schedule, technical performance and customer satisfaction) in which projects are completed timely with a level of accountability and collaboration across the Company. * Scale for Growth: Company is on plan to achieve $60 million revenue in 2021. EVP will ensure structure of the organization is effective to maintain planned growth and propose changes to the CEO, as needed. * Organizational Development: Ensure that the entire organization has the capability to scale for growth. This will include:* Evaluating the senior leadership team and second tier managers, ensuring that each person has the capability and scalability to contribute to the company growth plan.* Helping senior managers evaluate their own teams and resources, ensuring development of team members is indented for skills gaps, where needed. * Mentoring/coaching senior managers in stretching their skill sets.* Facilitating improved engagement between functional groups.* Program Leadership: The EVP is responsible for the successful management of all programs involving various departments and cross-functional teams. They will be the executive level interface to the customer, as needed, ensuring high customer service through on-time meeting of milestones and parameter as a well as the proper execution of all program deliverables from initiation through delivery. * Resource Management: Evaluate current resources and resource plans, and ensure that each functional group has the resources it needs (people, technology, equipment, infrastructure) to scale for growth.* Process Improvement: Expand operational capability by seeking new efficiencies in workflow to reduce work-in-process idle time on shop floor. * Accountability Culture: Work with Engineering and Operations to create a culture of accountability within their teams, thereby improving the timely completion of projects and deliveries. * Financial Management: The Company manages to metrics. The EVP must demonstrate a keen understanding of financials, manage to established metrics, and, refine metrics utilized as needed. Ensure that budgets and forecasts are aligned.* Strategic Planning: The EVP will lead Engineering and Operations to continuously develop the vision and long-term planning. The strategic plan will be developed through Rantec's collaborative planning processes (Organizational Review, Financial Review and Planning Conference).* Succeed into GM Position: The EVP position is identified as the successor for GM/President. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:In addition to the specific objectives above, the EVP will:* Develop and present monthly Board of Directors report.* Develop meaningful, senior level customer relationships.* Ensure that all communications are understood and disseminated throughout the organization, reaching every employee appropriately.* Ensure compliance to all governing regulations, including EAR, ITAR.* Build relationships with other divisions (Presidents of other RPS companies).* Work closely with Human Resources to implement and refine company policies and procedures. BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge and skills.Education: * * BS degree in engineering or business is required.* MBA or graduate level degree preferred.Experience: * * 10+ years of experience with aerospace and defense manufacturing of custom, high value engineered electronic products. * 5+ years P&L management experience (ideally as EVP or equivalent leadership level) running at least $15M+ and 50+ employee organizations. * 5+ years of engineering and/or product development experience.Knowledge and skills: * * Proven record of hiring, developing, and building successful teams. * Proven track record of driving successful change management at a senior level.PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER:The ideal candidate will have most of the following traits:* * High energy leader willing to set a clear direction to bring out the best in others.* Open, honest communicator.* Entrepreneurial mindset.* Set priorities with and for others and normalize timely results.* Motivational leader with excellent business judgment and accountability. * Strong moral standards* Confidence that elicits trust and respect from management, peers, and customers. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:The EVP will report directly to Michael Bickel, the President and CEO of RPS, and also to the full Board of Directors. Michael joined Rantec early in his career and was the lead of the management team that acquired Rantec from ESCO in 2003. Michael will seek to empower the EVP to evaluate Rantec with a fresh viewpoint and establish the EVP's own plan for stepping into the GM Position within the next 2 - 3 years, while also evolving the company with a plan for continued stable growth.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Market competitive salary and bonus.Some form of deferred compensation tied to company performance will be offered.Benefits include:* * Medical, dental and vision coverage is offered. The health coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month following completion of 30 days of employment.* * 401(k) Plan. A qualified retirement savings plan. Currently Rantec makes Safe Harbor matching contributions equal to 100% of employee 401(k) salary deferrals up to 6% of compensation.* Flexible Spending Account. Rantec offers employees a Section 125 plan. You may pay for unreimbursed medical expenses and dependent care on a pre-tax basis as a deduction from your bi-weekly paycheck. Enrollment in the plans takes place each December for a January 1st effective date.* Supplemental Insurance. Life, disability, and other types of insurance plans are offered to employees through AFLAC. Participation is voluntary, and employees pay 100% of the premium for these plans. Enrollment in these plans takes place each December.* Paid Holidays. The holiday schedule is published prior to the start of each fiscal year.* Paid Vacation. This position will earn 120 hours (three weeks) per year.* 9/80 Work Schedule.
