Organization Profile: Childrens Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County is a non-profit organization established in 1970 whose mission is to develop strong and healthy families by providing education, care and resource systems to children, their parents and caregivers, with a special emphasis on low income and under-represented children and families. Summary of Position:Reporting to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for managing and forecasting cash flow, prioritizing spending, with primary focus on general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting, while working with an annual $8.5M budget funded by 20-30 various state, federal and local funding streams.-- Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years experience in accounting/finance; Experience in fund accounting within a non-profit environment, a plus; Bachelors degree in accounting or related field required. ---- Competencies:Demonstrated competence in accounting and finance principles in accordance with GAAP; Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects; Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and accurate;-- -- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel;-- Ability to be flexible, innovative and adapt to the changing needs of the program, department and agency. Summary of Essential Job Functions: Prepare and provide the CEO and the Board of Directors with an operating budget; Monitor and analyze the monthly operating results against the budget with Program Managers; Ensure program success through cost analysis and compliance with all contractual and program requirements which includes, interpreting fiscal legislative and program rules and regulations to monitor and ensure compliance; ensuring governmental regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate staff; overseeing the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the agency, including organizing revenue/expenses and balance sheet reports; reports to funding agencies and development and monitoring of contract/grant budgets. Specific Job Functions: General Ledger/Budgeting:Maintain chart of accounts and general ledger; Maintain general ledger on a monthly basis; Oversee monthly reconciliation and subsidiary ledgers for all balance sheet items; Monitor banking activities of the Agency and perform monthly bank reconciliations and present to Board for review;------------ Monitor budget versus actual expenditures; Oversee budgeting for capital purchases and maintain schedule of fixed assets. -- Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable:Oversee AP and AR and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place; Process and file annual 1099 reports. Audit Preparation:Oversee coordination and activities of independent auditors to ensure all audit issues are resolved and compliance issues are met;-- Prepare the annual financial statement and federal and state tax returns. Financial Reporting:Oversee management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities to include completion of fiscal reports to funding agencies; prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual fiscal reports to all funders; Monitor contract/grant budgets versus actual expenditures. General:Oversee and monitor business insurance plans are in force with adequate coverage; Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for staff; Oversee maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets; Oversee and monitor all IT activities and expenses of the agency, to include analysis of agency software programs for effectiveness and cost; making recommendations to Executive Director regarding disposal, replacement, additions and modifications to hardware and software systems; On behalf of the agency, negotiate contracts involving banking, insurance, information technology, real estate and utilities; Oversee human resources activities and ensure compliance; Provide supervision of bookkeeper, HR staff and administrative assistant; Attend monthly Board meetings and sub-committee meetings in the capacity of acting as lead on the Audit/Finance Committees; Perform duties and responsibilities as Safety Officer and ensure compliance of the Cal/Fed OSHA compliance regulations. Accountability/Supervision Received: Ability to work flexible hours, as evenings and weekends may be required; Maintain accurate calendar and update supervisor of scheduling changes. Special Requirements: Must possess a valid California driver's license, have use of a motor vehicle, provide evidence of automobile liability insurance and be able to travel within Santa Barbara County; Must successfully pass the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal background check and submit to Trust Line Fingerprint processing, prior to first day of employment. Compensation: $78K to $85K DOE, for this full-time exempt position, plus benefits, which includes 401k with up to 6% employer match. Location: Santa Maria, CA
